Stream Channel and Riparian Restoration Services
|
Water’s Edge provides a range of traditional and new technologies to stabilize stream erosion, reconstruct stream channels, and restore aquatic and riparian habitats.
We recognize that no single technology fits all situations. Where applicable, low-cost, bio-stabilization methods employing natural materials and live plants are used to create stable channel conditions. Where plant materials alone are not sufficient, projects have been designed to combine plantings with traditional riprap or gabion structures to create a vegetated stable structure at problem locations.
On many channel reconstruction projects, we incorporate natural channel design practices and methods as a key part of our planning and design services. The principals of fluvial geomorphology, are used to assess stream conditions and restore unstable channels to dimensions, patterns and profiles represented by stable streams of similar type and geomorphic setting. In the process, we create streams that are not only stable but also function and look like natural systems.
Our planning and design services for stream and riparian restoration include:
- Stream Morphological Assessments
- Riparian Habitat Restoration
- Bio-stabilization Designs
- Flood Plain Reattachment Plans
- Stream Bank Stabilization Designs
- Natural Channel Design
- Aquatic Habitat Enhancement
- Erosion and Sediment Control Permits
- General Stream Encroachment Designs and Permits
